App for assessors
A field-collection tool, replacing the notebook and pen of the previous process.

Context
I worked at Geopark Araripe, a UNESCO-affiliated institution that acts as a catalyst for sustainable transformation in the Cariri region of Ceará, Brazil (an area that includes the Araripe National Forest, Brazil's first national forest). The project's focus was to digitize the assessment processes for the preservation areas.
Project history
This project spanned three phases of my career, and each time I returned to it I brought refinements based on what I had learned in between:
First contact, framing of the problem and an initial solution prototype.
Picked it back up on my own, with refinements based on experience gathered in the market.
Directly led the implementation of the digital solution, within the Geopark structure.
The challenge
The manual assessment process for the preservation sites, done with pen and paper in the field, created delays in collecting and analyzing the data. Those delays undermined the planning of conservation actions, which is the Geopark's core work.
Research
Research revealed a single core profile: the environmental manager who needs to coordinate field assessors and interpret the data for decision-making.
The approach
Coordinating the development team in agile cycles.
Identifying the need for a mathematical formula to measure the conditions of the assessed sites, producing more accurate reports for managers.
Interviews with stakeholders (assessors and managers), high-fidelity prototypes and usability testing.
The solution
A field-collection tool, replacing the notebook and pen of the previous process.
Consolidating the data, applying the mathematical formula and generating reports for decision-making.
Refinements based on testing: fewer screens in the assessment flow and a more accessible login screen.
Prototype

80%
Reduction in the time taken by the assessment process.
The tool was in final testing with environmental managers by the end of my work in 2024.
